The Oregon State Archives has one of the best genealogy research centers in Oregon. It's holdings includes records such as: Oregon Historical County Records Guide, which includes maps, county and office histories, scenic images, and a comprehensive descriptive inventory of selected records for each of Oregon's 36 counties, the Oregon Historical Records Index provides index access to surname and other entries compiled from a selected list of records held by the Oregon State Archives, the Provisional and Territorial Records Guide includes maps, agency and county histories, and descriptions of provisional and territorial government records in the holdings of the Oregon State Archives. Oregon State Library

The Oregon State Library has partnered with the Willamette Valley Genealogical Society to maintain and administer genealogical resources at the Library. According to their Memorandum of Understanding, "The Oregon State Library and the Willamette Valley Genealogical Society mutually desire to maintain and enhance the Genealogical Resource Center, providing... genealogical materials and facilities for genealogists and Oregon history researchers at the Oregon State Library"
